THE ORGANIZATION PROFILE
Mordern history of Ranchi started way
back in 1834 when the first Agent of Western Frontier Agency, Captain
Wilkinson selected Kishunpur village as his headquarter. Present JPSC
office was selected by him as his residential office. In due course of
time Kishunpur developed to be the modern Ranchi City, presently Capital
of Jharkhand State.
Ranchi
Regional Development Authority (RRDA), Previously Ranchi Improvement
Trust (RTI), was established in 1976, for consolidated and balanced
development of Ranchi within its controlled area as per the Master
Plan.To control the haphazard and dangerous trend of urbanization and
planned way for construction of Building as per the Town Planning
Standards, is the primary duty of the Authority.First Master plan of
Ranchi was prepared in the year 1965. This was revised in the year 1972.
The third revision of the Master Plan was done in 1983. Presently RRDA
is working with the Master Plan notified by Urban Development &
Housing Department, Govt. of Jharkhand in the year 2016. Total Villages
covered under RRRDA Area is 268. which consists of 06 circles namely
Angara, Kanke, Ratu, Nagri, Namkum & Ormanjhi. The land use of the
Master Plan area is divided into various parts, viz. residential,
commercial, educational, industrial, agriculture and open space
alongwith road, railway, hospital, forest land, etc. After formation of
separate Jharkhand State, Ranchi has been made as its Capital. RRDA
Formulated its own Ranchi Planning Standards and Building Bye laws and
it came into force from 1 june,2002 and revised in 2006 and currently
RRDA has adopted Jharkhand Building Bye Laws (JBBL)-2016 notified by
Urban Development & Housing Department, Govt. of Jharkhand. After
the formation of the State of Jharkhand, the duties and responsibilities
of the Authority has Increased. RRDA had chalked out certain
beautification plans for the City, viz, creation of amusement parks,
renovation of Town Hall, renovation of existing parks, construction of
two electric crematorium at the banks of river Harmu and Subarnarekha to
avoid pollution, construction of Birsa Bus Terminus, development of
Jaipal Singh Stadium, Rock Garden, Dada Dadi Park, etc.
